What do we know about Australia?

Follow our journey around Australia. So lets get trecking....

A cockatoo dropped a plastic bottle left behind at the beach and we found a message inside. It took us quite a while to get the message out and Kath decided to help read as she knew two words. It was from Nemo and he was lost and needed some help to get to the Great Barrier Reef. Where? We didn’t know so we went outside to try to find it. Which way? Arms pointing in all directions. We had to find out more information so we went to 1F to see if the year ones could help us. They looked and pointed but showed us a globe of the world so that might help us. Tom suggested we find a great big map of Australia so we went to the library and asked Mrs Court who also suggested to look at the internet. We found pictures of the Great Barrier Reef in books and posters.The process the children learnt is how to find information.

Now we know how to find the reef and we needed to get there. The class decision was to go by boat so we made our own boat. We role played the experience.

We met Park Ranger Powlett to get our passes to tavel around Australia. We met Park Ranger Powlett on Green Island where we released Nemo back home.
